1950's LORD ELGIN Mens Vintage Watch, 14K Gold - THE HOURGLASS

Popularized in the late 1940's the "Hour-Glass" shape is one of the most elegant forms from the period, exhibiting graceful, sensual lines and perfect symmetry. Patek Philippe and Longines, two of the world's very fine Swiss watch firms, embraced this idea as did Elgin Watch Co. by offering an Hour Glass model as part their gentleman's wristwatch selections.

The handsome Elgin wristwatch featured in this auction is as a prime example of one of those pieces. It features a curvaceous solid gold Hour Glass case and precision Elgin movement.

We were fortunate to acquire it in such pleasing original condition. The 14K gold case is in excellent condition. The original silver dial is near mint. And the Elgin movement is running true.
